August '17 Wrap Up

What do you like to read when you're sad?

In case the fact that I read one short novel and three graphic novels doesn't make it abundantly clear, August was a hard month. I also struggled with my disillusionment with young-adult fiction, spurred on by my disappointment in the anthology Because You Love to Hate Me, and couldn't seem to settle into a book, reading Wintersmith in fits and starts despite greatly enjoying it.

67 - Kase-San and Bento (Kase-San #2) by Hiromi Takashima - 4.5 stars - 180pp
A perfect continuation for this sincerely adorable series. I can't believe it's only going to be four volumes long! I'm gonna have to reread it a lot then.

68 - Bloom into You v. 2 by Nakatani Nio - 3 stars -180pp
A surprisingly sedate continuation of this series which would be great if I wasn't terribly worried that everything is going to go wrong and get endlessly dramatic very soon.

69 - Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett - 5 stars - 336pp
The perfect introduction to Terry Pratchett's Discworld, featuring a young witch and a mess of magic. Pick it up!

70 - Legend of Korra: Turf Wars #1 by Michael Dante DiMartino - 4.5 stars - 80pp
This is the continuation of the tv show you were all waiting for. The art is gorgeous, the story is romantic and intriguing (looking forward to infrastructure drama!). Do not miss it!
